Apply for or Renew your Passport

With a valid password and some money in your pocket, the world becomes your recreational playground. Travelling the world not only brings you joy, but enriches you with new experiences; beautiful cultures, exquisite foods, interesting people, tours and adventures and many beautiful pictures that capture your adventures.


Applying for a Passport


For any Saint Lucian, applying for a password is a very hassle free and straightforward process. Once you have decided that you need a password, the following steps are generally how the process goes:

  1. Complete the official FORM A Application For Saint Lucia Passport form.

  2. Put together all required documents to be produced with your application

  3. Submit all documents to the Immigration Department and pay application fee

The first page of the application form outlines in detail the instruction for completing the form and applying for the passport.

1. Completing the official "FORM A Application for Saint Lucia Passport" form


The first step requires you to get a copy of the official application form. A copy of the form can be obtained from the following sources:

  1. National Printing Corporation (at a fee of $2.00 per application form)

  2. The Immigration Department

  3. Online via the Government of Saint Lucia


The first page of the application form outlines in detail the instruction for completing the form and applying for the passport. Your task simply is to read each line and fill in the information.


The application form should always be completed and signed by the applicant (18+ years). However, if the applicant is not of legal age (under 16 years), a parent/guardian should complete and sign the application form.


2. Putting together all required documents to be produced with your application

In all cases, only ORIGINAL documents or CERTIFIED COPIES will be accepted.

All supporting documents are to be appended to your application form. For first time applicant, the list of required documents are:

  • National ID Card

  • Birth Certificate

  • Change of name document (if applicable)

  • Marriage Certificate (women only and if applicable)

  • Divorce Certificate (women only and if applicable)

One very important piece document that is required for the application form is the passport picture. Section (G) of the application form highlights that two (2) passport size of a recent photograph of the applicant must be included with the application.


The specifications of the photographs are essential and must be met for its approval. A few things to consider for you photographs are your dress code (chest to shoulders should be covered), no jewelry, no hats* and glasses (only prescription glasses are allowed). These specifications apply to both male and female applicants.


Other passport specification include:

  • In colour

  • 2x2 inch in size

  • A plain white background or off-white background

  • Photo must be taken within the last 6-months

  • Full face and front view of applicant

  • Head position: your head must be kept straight

  • Smile: no

  • Eyes: clearly visible

  • Blurry photos are rejected

  • Glasses: acceptable under certain conditions

  • *Headwear: not allowed. Exceptions are made for religious purposes

  • Resolution (pixels): at least 600 dpi

  • Dress code: clothes must be in contrast with the background. Do not wear white tops

  • Beard: allowed if it represents your everyday likeness

  • Number of photos necessary: 2


Rules and Requirements for Babies, Infants, and Newborn Passport Photos

  • You should take the photo of your child when he/she is awake. Children’s eyes must be visible, as well.

  • If you decide to photograph your child while he/she sits in a car seat, remember that you have to cover the backrest of the chair with a white layer.

  • When placing the baby on his/her back to take the picture from above, put a white layer underneath.

  • You must remove your child’s pacifier and headwear before taking the picture.

  • Please note that only your child can appear in the passport photo or visa photo. So, even if you decide that you want to hold your baby, not even your hands can be visible in the shot.


Another important requirement that is applicable to the photograph and application form, is the notarization of the documents by the person verifying the applicant's declaration. These individuals are usually prominent person in society such as:

  • Doctor

  • Lawyer

  • Minister of Religion

  • Justice of the Peace (JP)

Family members are not acceptable


The back of the photographs should be certified, that it is a true likeness of the applicant.


3. Submit all documents to the Immigration Department and pay application fee


After all steps 1 and 2 are completed, it is now time to submit your application from the the Immigration Department. A processing fee is to be paid upon submission of the application from and is determined based on the processing time selected.

An A-Receipt will be produced upon payment of fees. This receipt must be produced upon collection of passport.



RENEWING YOUR PASSPORT


Passport renewal is very much the same process as applying for a new passport. This time, instead of selecting New Application, you should select Renewal.
